Co-Creating our Word Wall
Last week, we began the task of building a Word Wall. This will consist of the letters of the alphabet, our names, and other high-frequency, or "popcorn" words that we see on a daily basis. Each student painted a background page using watercolours, and then we added a letter and Jolly Phonics flashcard to each page. Every student had a chance to match the flashcard to the appropriate letter. Students then added their name to the page, having to choose the correct beginning letter. We then added some words to our Word Wall that we will be using in our reading and writing tasks to come.
A Busy Start to the Year!
We have had a very busy start to the year! The students have been engaged in our different learning centres. They consist of the Art Studio, Math Centre, Literacy Centre, Science & Sensory Centre, and Building Centre. The centres will change periodically, as we intentionally change our focus of learning. See the pictures below for some examples of the learning happening in our classroom.
