Radical Readers

The students have had a great time reading to their friends for their Special Me day.  Some students have been also enjoying reading their books to each other from their Book Bags.

Scientists in School - "I Can be a Scientist"

We had a great time with Scientist Karen, learning how to be different Scientists.  She commented on how well behaved our students are - made is very proud!!

Here are some students playing the role of a Chemist.

We became Paleontologists and dug for dinosaur bones!

Exploring the sky at night was one of our favourite activities, as an Astronomer.

We got to be Marine Biologists, and even got to touch an octopus!

Exploring the role of a Meteorologist was a fun activity too!

Rainbow Days

We loved celebrating Rainbow Day.  We wore as many different colours as we could and participated in various rainbow themed activities.

The students are having a great time building fantastic structures with their friends!

Journals

We have been working hard on our journals this month.  Check out the writing below!  SK students are encouraged to look at our word wall for our Popcorn Words and some other common words, and to sound out those words not on our word wall.  They are doing a fantastic job - we are very proud!

Math Games

We have been busy building upon our Number Sense and Numeration skills with some fun domino games!  In this game, students chose a domino, added the dots together and placed it on the corresponding number in the Domino Parking Lot.

Write the Room

All students were invited to participate in the "Write the Room" activity.  They had to choose up to 8 words that they could read from around our classroom.  They did a fantastic job!  Check out some of the words they chose below.

Math Games

Students have been participating in various math games, specifically related to number sense.  In this game, SK students were asked to roll 2 die, add together the dots, and print the corresponding number in the column to build a graph.  Many students were able to subitize the dots on the die (they knew the number without counting as they have memorized the configuration of dots).  We will continue to build upon our number sense as the year progresses.

Lakeview Restaurant

We are continuing to add to our dramatic play centre.  The students came up with a list of food that could be served in the restaurant.  

The students then created menus.

The restaurant is open!

Green Eggs and Ham Day

We had a blast today making green eggs and ham!  Students predicted whether they would like them or not, then recorded their opinion after tasting our yummy concoction!

Lakeview's Restaurant

We have just changed our Dramatic Play centre to a restaurant!  Students have been busy making signs. Stay tuned for more!
