Green Eggs and Ham Day

We had a blast today making green eggs and ham!  Students predicted whether they would like them or not, then recorded their opinion after tasting our yummy concoction!

Lakeview's Restaurant

We have just changed our Dramatic Play centre to a restaurant!  Students have been busy making signs. Stay tuned for more!

Recycling

In honour of Earth Day, we have been learning about different ways to help our environment.  In this activity, students were asked to place the various items in the correct recycling bin.

Dr. Seuss

In conjunction with our school's production of Seussical Jr., we have been reading lots of different Dr. Seuss books and the students have been invited to complete follow-up activities.

In the following pictures, students made their own "Cat in the Hat" hats, and the JK students printed a letter for each letter of their name.  The SK students printed a different word from the -at family on each strip of paper.

In this game, the students got to try and get a ping pong ball into a cup labelled with a popcorn word. If they could identify the word and got the ping pong ball inside of it, they got to keep the cup for the rest of the game.  The student with the most cups "won"!

In honour of Cat in the Hat day, students were invited to bring in a hat to wear.

We played Pin the Hat on the Cat!

We made glasses for "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut" day.

For "Fox in Socks" Day, students got to wear their funkiest socks!

Students of the Month

Congratulations to our Students of the Month for February and March.  Way to go!

Life Cycle of a Butterfly

The students were learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. The were invited to create a life cycle, using various types of pasta.  Most of the students did a wonderful job explaining the stages of transformation from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

Marvellous Mathematician!

I wanted to check the students knowledge of "conservation" so I placed 2 rows of 5 tiles on the carpet.  I put one row close together and the other row spread out.  I asked each student which row had the most, and the only student to tell me that they had the same is pictured below.  Fantastic job! I hope that students use their counting skills to check in the future if they are unsure.
