Happy Halloween

We had a great time on Halloween.  What marvellous costumes!!  Hope you all have a safe and fun Halloween!

P is for Pasta

Students were invited to make a pasta when we were discussing the letter P.

Pumpkin Inquiry continued...

We had a great time on our trip to the pumpkin patch.  We went on Lil' Pud, a wagon ride, walked through the pumpkin patch, and got to pick out a class pumpkin.

The following day, we wrote about our favourite part of the trip in our journals.

We did some investigations about pumpkins.  We talked about what they look like on the outside and on the inside.  We learned some new vocabulary words and made a craft illustrating the inside of a pumpkin.

We observed a pumpkin's features and then painted them.

Tooty-Ta

You may have heard about our favourite dance - the Tooty Ta.  Here is a picture of some of the students dancing during Movement Time.

Quiet Activities

We have introduced Quiet Activities at certain points in the day.  During this time, students are invited to do a puzzle, colour, write in their journals, or read a book.  It's giving the children opportunities to try different things, while keeping their energy level down.

Pumpkin Inquiry

We have started to discuss the properties of pumpkins, as we prepare for our trip to the Pumpkin Patch on Monday.  We made a list of "What do we know about pumpkins?" and have been reading books to gain knowledge about this topic. We have pumpkins out on our "I Wonder" table, and some students have been exploring and investigating their properties.

Today, students were invited to participate in a "Write the Room" activity.  Pumpkin vocabulary was placed around the room and students had to find the words and write them down on the response sheet.  They had a blast!  Look for more Write the Room activities in the future!
